My Approach
I always make sure that my students really understand the topic that we are studying. The pace of progress in my lessons is set by the student; as soon as they are confident, we will move on, so that the lesson doesn’t become dull and repetitive. If they find something a bit more difficult, I will find another way of looking at it and spend as much time as it takes for them to gain a real understanding. Because I am retired, I can take time outside the lesson to find the materials that best support each student and their way of learning. If I do need any help, I can always call on my daughter, who is Head of Maths at a school in Devon (mind you, she sometimes asks me!). |
